Artisans, engineers and healthcare workers from Bellville, Brackenfell and Kraaifontein taking contracts in the UAE, Qatar, the Netherlands or Ireland need the certificate for the work visa, usually with an apostille or embassy attestation on top.
Durbanville and Plattekloof families moving to the UK, Australia or New Zealand need a police clearance for every adult on the application, and the timing has to line up with the visa lodgement.
Corporate relocations, work permits and residence applications in South Africa routinely require a SAPS police clearance certificate, and HR teams often need several at once.
SAPS controls the processing time; these three preventable problems are what actually cause delays.
One of the most common reasons an application is delayed or returned, and the problem is often only discovered weeks later. We review your fingerprints against SAPS requirements before submission to reduce the risk of rejection.
Your names, ID number and supporting documents must match exactly. A maiden name, a missing initial or an outdated document is enough to delay an application. We cross-check every document against your identification before your application is lodged.
Apostille or embassy attestation depends entirely on the destination country, and using the wrong process costs weeks and a second round of couriers. We confirm your destination's requirements before the application starts.
One consultant manages the application from start to finish, wherever you are between Goodwood and Kraaifontein.
We complete the SAPS forms with you, assemble the supporting documents and review everything against current requirements, so nothing is missing when it reaches SAPS.
We monitor the application through the process and report at each stage, so you are not chasing SAPS yourself. We can also arrange collection and delivery of your documents, locally and internationally.
If the certificate is going abroad, we plan the apostille or embassy legalisation into the same job, in the right order, and deliver the finished document.
Apply on your own at a police station and you join the general SAPS queue, which offers no expedited service to the public. MGA Experiences is known for quick turnaround times through our managed submission channel.
Where you live in Cape Town changes nothing; the channel and the preparation change everything. An application that is correct at first submission, and an apostille planned in from the start, is what we control.
If you have a contract start date or a visa appointment, see how long a police clearance takes and plan backwards from it.
Start early
A Gulf contract needs the certificate, the apostille or attestation and often a sworn translation, in that order. The earlier we start against your start date, the more options you have.
Tell us your deadline at the first conversation. It changes what we recommend.

It depends on the country the certificate is for, and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) will not legalise a police clearance certificate older than six months, so the two steps have to be timed together.
Apostille route
One DIRCO apostille and the certificate is final. No embassy step.
Embassy attestation route
DIRCO authentication, then embassy attestation in Pretoria. We confirm the route before anything is lodged.
Not sure which applies to you? See apostille versus attestation, or for a Gulf contract, what your employer will ask for.

There is no expiry date printed on it. Most embassies, employers and institutions want one issued within the last six months, and DIRCO will not apostille one older than six months.
